Fellowship Programs
Cardiomyopathy Fellowship Applicants
The Cardiomyopathy Program at Boston Medical Center offers diagnostic and treatment services to patients with cardiomyopathy and heart failure of all etiologies, including idiopathic and ischemic cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease and hypertension. Services include:
- Consultations for primary care physicians, cardiovascular disease specialists, and cardiac surgeons;
- Disease-specific diagnostic testing, including cardiopulmonary exercise testing and endomyocardial biopsy;
- Comprehensive disease management, and
- Cardiac transplant evaluation and LVAD implantation.
In addition, we are actively involved in clinical research protocols that offer patients early access to novel investigational drugs and devices. Given the increasing prevalence of heart failure in the community and growing evidence that heart failure is under-recognized and poorly treated, the emphasis of the program is on early evaluation and aggressive management. To this end, invasive monitoring with a pulmonary artery catheter to guide parenteral therapy may be used in appropriate cases.
